Mad Dogs and Englishmen 2016

Each year I always write about the great time we have attending the Mad Dogs & Englishmen show, held at the fantastic Gilmore Auto Museum in Hickory Corners, Michigan. I am happy to report that this year, TVR has been selected as the "Rare Gem" for the show and will have a special spot on the show field!

As a result, the club has agreed to support the show as a national event and I invite all TVR owners, with or without cars, to come join us for the weekend of July 9-10, 2016 to help celebrate the marque and enjoy the show in this great venue!

I have arranged to rent the banquet room at the new visitor's center at the museum and have a catered buffet with a cash bar the evening of July 9, 2016. In addition to what I hope is a great meal, you will have access to the vehicles displayed in the visitor's center and be able to view everything during the show on Sunday. The banquet should start at 6 pm and conclude at 10 pm. As this will be a catered buffet and we must rent the room, cost will be $60 each to cover buffet and room rental. Obviously, since there are no kitchen facilities at the museum, I really need to know as soon as possible if you plan to attend, as once the final number is set, there will be no wiggle room on meals. If you think you are going to be able to make it, I would appreciate if you could send me a check to cover the cost of each banquet ticket you want, since it all must be prepaid well before the event. Even if you don't currently have a TVR, but maybe had one in the past and want to rekindle the urge, we would love to have you come out!

I have reserved a block of rooms at the Holiday Inn West in Kalamazoo, Michigan at rate of $99/night. This is a full service Holiday Inn, with an indoor pool, bar and restaurant. Ask for the TVRCC rate when calling either 269-375-6000 or 800-315-2621.

When show registration forms become available, I will try and have it available on the club website and in the newsletter. In past events, the registration has been $25/car and occupants. This gives you full access to everything at the museum, to include entry in the autocross, if so inclined. Food is available at the original diner, welcome center and other vendors at the show. For those who arrive early, there is a road rally that usually departs around noon from a location in Kalamazoo, details in the registration form. Space is also available on the field for vendors and car trailers.

The Detroit area group usually departs after our monthly breakfast and drives over to Kalamazoo, arriving around 1-2 pm. Anyone wishing to join us for breakfast and drive over on Saturday, drop me an email or we will meet you at the hotel.

I really hope we can get a good turnout for this event, would love to see some Griffith's there, our Maple Leaf friends from across the border and all of the regions! I am sure you will not be disappointed! Google Gilmore Auto Museum for a closer look.
