Out of the Woodwork 2022

TVRCCNA this year is bringing Out of the Woodwork back to Watkins Glen one last time for a fun weekend of racing. This will be your last chance to see Woodwork at the Glen! For the final time we will be holding the TVRCCNA national event in conjunction with the Watkins Glen Grand Prix Festival and the SVRA 2022 Watkins Glen US Vintage Grand Prix. As part of participating in Out of the Woodwork you will receive special discounted admission to the US Vintage Grand Prix and its Saturday auto show, where we will be holding Out of the Woodwork.
We are again staying at the Hilton Garden Inn Elmira/Corning (35 Arnot Road, Horseheads, New York, 14845). We have negotiated a special rate of $159/night that is available between Thursday 8 September and Sunday 11 September 2022. This year’s Out Of The Woodwork guest of honour will be Doug Hickey; TVR North America’s Service Manager. So, where did it all begin? A young John Wadman started TVR North America around 1971 in suburban Toronto. In 1976, when TVR North America was only in business for about five years, a thirteen year old boy named Doug Hickey took a part time after school job working for John. Doug’s duties started off as a typical “lot boy”, washing cars, and helping out in general, and quickly moved to performing oil changes, and helping out with wrench in hand. Over the years Doug and John have imported, sold, and serviced the vast majority of TVRs that are in Canada. TVR North America also serves many customers in the United States, both as a parts supplier, as well as for repairs and restorations.
During Doug’s career he only had one break from TVR, when he took a year off for work experience at Canadian Tire. Thankfully once he completed his work experience he returned to TVR North America and has been there ever since. Having been integral to TVR North America’s day to day operations and success for all these years, Doug has built a wealth of knowledge of the marque. In fact Doug has what you may call a “personal relationship” with so many TVR, and has certainly built strong relationships with his customers – many of us considering him a friend first, and our mechanic second.
This will be the first time Doug is making the journey to join us at Out of The Woodwork. We encourage you to all come and join us in welcoming Doug, and take advantage of this fantastic opportunity to hear first hand stories of half a century of TVR history in Canada. The banquet is always a highlight of the weekend, and having Doug as our speaker will be entertaining and informative.

Thursday

Friday
Friday is the Grand Prix Festival, presented by the Chemung Canal Trust Company. It's a big part of the US Vintage Grand Prix and has a TON of events, each of which has to be enrolled in separately such as driving tours, history talks from early drivers, and a variety of food and entertainment. TVRCCNA is also setting up our own driving tour because a number of the planned ones are already full, so let Ben Roth know if you're interested in a club tour instead of one of the tours organized by the Grand Prix Festival.
Saturday
8am-4pm: Out of the Woodwork at the U.S. Vintage Grand Prix
7:30am – Gates open for entry
11:45am - Staging for Parade Laps on the Watkins Glen track
12:15pm - Auto Show Parade Laps
1:30pm - US Vintage Grand Prix Auto Show Judging
2:00pm – Participant voting ends for Out of the Woodwork awards
3:00pm - US Vintage Grand Prix Auto Show Award Presentation
Immediately After - Out of the Woodwork Award Presentations
6:30-10pm: Out of the Woodwork Banquet and 2019 Annual General Meeting
6:30pm – Banquet opens for cocktails
7:30-9pm – Banquet and presentation by our special guest
9-10pm – Auction, the usual silliness
Sunday
Wake up, eat breakfast, marvel (or quiver) at what you purchased during the auction last night, and then head for home.
